6th International Ex-libris Competition- Istanbul 2025
Istinye University, Selçuk Ecza Deposu, Bozlu Art Project and Istanbul Ex-libris Society have organized an international ex-libris competition open to artists and designers of all countries to bring together and evaluate original ex-libris works, to encourage artists, to promote and popularize the art of ex-libris.
Rules:
Article 1. Participants can participate in the competition with a maximum of 5 different ex-libris produced between 2022-2025. 3 signed copies of each print must be sent
Article 2. There are no limitations on subject matter and printing techniques. In addition to traditional printing techniques, AI and computer designs will also be accepted. However, ex-libris must be reproduced and numbered. Photocopies, drawings, and sketches will not be accepted.
Article 3. The word “Ex-libris” (“Ex-libris”, “Ex-libris”, “Ex-libris”, “Bookplate”) or a word with this meaning and the name of the ex-libris owner (living person) or the name of the organization must be included on the ex-libris.
Article 4. Participants must sign or initial their ex-libris. The name of the artist, the code of the technique, the year of production, the size, and the name of the ex-libris owner must be legibly written on the back center of the ex-libris. If only the initials of the ex-libris owner are used, the full name must also be indicated. If an alphabet other than the Latin alphabet is used, the ex-libris must be written in the Latin alphabet on the reverse side of the ex-libris, and where necessary in English.
Article 5. The long side of the ex-libris printing area must not exceed 14 cm and the printed paper should not be larger than A5 (21×15 cm). Ex-libris should not be glued to cardboard or colored paper. They must be ready for use.
Article 6. Deadline for participation: April 23, 2025. The date of mailing is considered. Ex-libris should be sent in a way that will not be damaged in the mail.
Article 7. The words “Printed Material” and “No Commercial Value” must be written on the envelope.

Article 9. Awards:
First Prize (Istinye University); 1.000 USD.
Second Prize (Selçuk Ecza Deposu); 800 USD.
Third Prize (Bozlu Art Project); 600 USD.
Young Artist Prize (Under 22) (IES); 500 USD.
Special Prize (Medical Park); 500 USD.
Special Prize (AveA Health); 500 USD.
Special Prize (Glana Cosmetic); 500 USD.
Special Prize (Tülay-Şükrü Ertürk); 500 USD.
Special Prize (Ayşe-Noyan Ünal); 500 USD.
Special Prize (Ayfer-Zeki Tutkan) 500 USD.
Special Prize (Hatice-Hasip Pektaş); 500 USD.
Article 10. Other individuals and organizations may give a special award if it is not less than 500 USD (=+-450 EURO).
Article 11. The jury may award honorable mentions and honorary certificates to the artists it deems appropriate.
Article 12. In the evaluation, attention will be paid to originality, technical and aesthetic competence, and the relationship between painting and writing.

Article 14. A catalogue will be prepared for the awarded and exhibited ex-libris.
Article 15. Ex-libris received for the competition will not be returned. One copy will be exhibited and evaluated at Istinye University, Istanbul Ex-libris Museum and one copy at Bozlu Art Project. Istanbul Ex-libris Society will be able to use the exhibited ex-libris on
its website, CDs, catalogs, magazines, or books.
Article 16. The awarded and exhibited ex-libris will be exhibited in two different places in Istanbul starting from August 2025.
Article 17. By participating in the competition, participants are deemed to have accepted the conditions and the decisions of the jury.
Article 18. Participants must fill out the form below legibly and send it together with the ex-libris.
Note: Artists can contribute ex-libris to the collection of Istanbul Ex-libris Museum.

Registration Fee
Congress members are required to pay a fee of €165, which entitles them to attend all events, scheduled visits, congress documentation and the closing gala dinner. Accompanying persons are required to pay a fee of €140, which entitles them to full participation in all events, scheduled visits and the closing gala dinner.
